Prison Ministers and Congregations

The Universal Life Church, Inc. has many ministers and congregations in prisons across the country. Many of the prisoners that our ministers have enrolled themselves in and completed the Bible Studies course offered by the Universal Life Church. A lot of the prisoners we have ordained have gotten out of prison and followed up on their ordination after their release and have become pillars of their society and a credit to the community. The Universal Life Church still has many problems in getting some of our materials into some prisons across the country. The majority of the prisoners that we ordain are male as we feel that either being a minister still strikes some people as predominately a male's role, coupled with the fact that we are not that widely known in the women's reformatories. We receive many requests weekly for ordination into the ministry.

The Universal Life Church also has many it outside" congregations that have programs to counsel and to hold fellowship meetings with different convicts in their areas. We also have some fine "con" congregations such as the one in the picture above that do many fine things. The congregation above holds a Braille class and receives outside assistance from the local Lion's club. The; Universal Life Church feels that a prisoner that is a ordained minister should have the same right to preach as any other minister of any other faith has the right to preach.

The Universal Life Church hopes to set up a organization that will be able to travel across the country talking with and allowing prison ministers to confer with each other and work together as one.
